Here are the Rocket Spelling word lists and level numbers that we think align well with kindergarten standards. For more background on this, check out yesterday's post.

Level 1.1 Short 'a' words: had, can, has, am, man, map, ran, sat, cat, dad

Level 1.2 Short 'e' words: net, get, beg, pen, let, red, yes, yet, bed, leg

Level 1.3 Short 'i' words: it, his, him, did, big, if, hit, fit, win, in

Level 1.4 Short 'o' words: not, got, top, box, hot, job, lot, on, mom, dot

Level 1.5 Short 'u' words: but, run, cut, dug, fun, cup, bug, us, nut, up

Level 1.6 Mixed short vowels: bad, hat, ham, pet, hug, pig, sit, pot, rug, hop

Level 1.7 High frequency list A: the, and, to, of, be, we, do, me, no, go

Level 1.8 High frequency list B: so, he, was, are, as, she, my, you, is, at

Level 2.1 Initial ch, sh, or th: that, then, them, shut, chin, this, they, than, chat, shop

Level 2.2 Initial __ + L blends: plan, clap, flip, slam, slip, glad, flag, sled, plus, slap

Level 2.3 Initial __ + R blends: from, trip, drip, drop, drum, trap, frog, brag, grin, grip

Level 2.4 Initial w vs. wh: who, what, when, where, why, which, with, went, while, were

Level 2.5 Other initial blends: stop, step, spin, skin, skip, snap, swim, spot, star, scarf

Level 2.6 High frequency list C: have, said, many, been, see, only, does, next, because, once

Level 2.7 High frequency list D: some, come, into, very, after, say, any, under, open, dog

Again, we recommend letting students progress through levels whenever they are ready, so some kindergarten students may being able to continue into planet 3 words and possibly beyond.
